How do I begin therapy?

The first step in initiating therapy is to contact Dr. Hunter directly (email or voicemail) and schedule an Initial Intake Session (60 minutes). Following an intake Session, a convenient day and time is agreed upon a virtual session is scheduled. Prior to session, a  confirmation email and session link will be provided. Required paperwork and other administrative items are communicated prior to or at the time of the Intake Session.

The Intake Session is used to better understand what you hope to gain from therapy, and to further assess fit. Background, history, challenges/goals, and how therapy might be helpful to you is discussed.

What can I expect from therapy sessions?

Therapy sessions are either 45 or 60 minutes in duration. Clients are typically seen on a weekly basis for either short-term or long-term therapy; this depends on need and goals for treatment.

Dr. Hunter likes to check in periodically on treatment goals and progress to be able to decide together if anything needs to be addressed or changed. In some cases, there may be a need to refer outside of treatment or to a more specialized treatment. If this comes up, we will work together to find you the resources you need.
